Hunan Participates in China Festival in Japan

The two-day China Festival 2024 kicked off in Yoyogi Park in downtown Tokyo on September 7.

The event was co-sponsored by the Chinese Embassy in Japan and the Executive Committee of China Festival 2024. Mao Zhaohui, deputy secretary general of the Hunan Provincial People's Government, led a Hunan delegation to the event.

The Hunan delegation offered a cultural feast for the Japanese audience during the event. Visitors at the Hunan booths had the opportunity to gain a comprehensive understanding about Hunan's economy, society, culture, folk customs, and picturesque landscapes, and savor the flavors of Hunan cuisine.

Hunan delegation set up eight booths at the event, presenting long-standing friendship between Hunan Province and Japan, and showcasing spectacular landscapes of Hunan's 13 cities and one prefecture. The delegation showcased the image of Changsha as an "internet-famous city" that integrates long history with modern culture. They reproduced the scene of the floating "Mt. Hallelujah" in the film "Avatar" which was inspired by the stunning mountains of Zhangjiajie, a World Nature Heritage Site. They played videos of popular Hunan TV shows, such as "Singer"; and, exhibited world's top-tier construction machinery models produced by construction machinery giant SANY Group.

Beyond that, folk artists demonstrated their handicrafts which have been shortlisted for Hunan's intangible cultural heritage items; tea masters from Anhua, the hometown of dark tea, performed tea art; and, Tujia girls dressed in ethnic costumes showed the unique cultural flavor of the Tujia ethnic group.

At the event, visitors were delighted to receive Hunan embroidery and other souvenirs that showcased the province's unique characteristics. They also had the opportunity to taste popular Hunan snacks and dishes, such as Chayan Yuese milk tea, Mo Mo Dim Sum snacks, Fruitops desserts, spicy salted duck, and Dongjiang fish.
