Mao Weiming, deputy secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and governor of Hunan Province, met in Changsha with Arman Shakkaliyev, minister of Trade and Integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and his entourage on September 10, 2024.

Qu Hai, secretary general of the People's Government of Hunan Province, attended.

On September 10, Governor Mao met with Minister Shakkaliyev in Changsha.

Located in Central Asia, Kazakhstan covers an area of 2.7249 million square kilometers. It is the world's largest landlocked country, with a population of about 20.13 million. The country is rich in natural resources, especially mineral resources, with a relatively well-developed agricultural and pastoral sector.

Governor Mao welcomed the guests and noted that Hunan and Kazakhstan enjoy a long history of friendly exchanges. Both sides have frequent exchanges, in-depth agricultural cooperation, and close economic and trade communication. Especially in recent years, SANY, ZOOMLION, Hunan Agricultural Group, Fengbai Construction Group, and other outstanding Hunan enterprises have carried out investment and collaboration in Kazakhstan, achieving fruitful results. Kazakhstan now has become one of the key countries for Hunan to launch trade and investment cooperation in Central Asia. Hunan and Kazakhstan realized 3.95 billion CNY of import and export value in 2023, an increase of 82.7% year on year.
Mao believed that Hunan and Kazakhstan share high industrial complementarity and broad prospects for cooperation. He expected the two sides to jointly implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, deeply integrating into the Belt and Road Initiative. Efforts should be made to promote enterprise communication and economic and trade integration; strengthen the cooperation in such fields as agriculture, equipment manufacturing, mineral smelting, new energy, biomedicine, and culture and tourism; and, enhance people-to-people exchanges, contributing more to the China-Kazakhstan permanent comprehensive strategic partnership.

The meeting.

Minister Shakkaliyev remarked that Kazakhstan is an important transportation channel and a "golden bridge" connecting China to the European continent. Under the strategic leadership of the heads of the two countries, Kazakhstan and China has taken high-quality cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative as the main line, ushering in another "golden 30 years". We are looking forward to strengthening comprehensive partnership with Hunan in machinery manufacturing, metallurgy, agriculture, education, tourism, and other sectors, to realize common development with mutual benefits and win-win results, he added.
