These terraces, covering over 12,000 hectares, started to be cultivated in the Qin and Han Dynasties, flourished in the Song and Ming Dynasties.

時光穿越2000年，梯田仍舊……

紫鵲界梯田最高海拔1200米，梯田海拔落差800多米。

Ziquejie Terraces' highest point is 1,200 meters, with a vertical drop of over 800 meters.

山有多高 田有多高 水就有多高。

As high as the mountains, so high are the fields, and the water flows from there.

天下大澇，此地?zé)o憂；天下大旱，此地有收。

In times of great floods, there are no worries here; in times of severe droughts, there is still harvest.

山無塘，田無壩。紫鵲界梯田依靠森林植被、基巖裂隙、土壤、田埂綜合形成儲水保水系統(tǒng)，天然自流灌溉系統(tǒng)堪稱人類農(nóng)業(yè)史上最偉大的水利工程。

There are no ponds in the mountains, and no dams in the fields. The terraces rely on forest vegetation, rock fissures, soil, and field embankments to form a comprehensive water storage and conservation system. The natural self-flow irrigation system could be taken as one of the greatest water conservancy projects in human agricultural history.
