Six Firms from Hunan Included in 2024 List of Top 500 Chinese Enterprises

The 2024 list of the top 500 Chinese enterprises was published by the China Enterprise Confederation (CEC) and the China Enterprise Directors Association on September 11. Six enterprises from Hunan were shortlisted.The top 500 Chinese enterprises were selected based on enterprises' annual revenue. This year the entry threshold in terms of revenue for the top 500 list stood at 47.381 billion CNY, marking an increase of 383 million CNY from the previous year.
The six shortlisted enterprises from Hunan include:
- Hunan Iron and Steel Group, with a revenue of 236.05602 billion CNY (125th);
- Hunan Construction Investment Group, with a revenue of 170.05775 billion CNY (162nd);
- Sany Group, with a revenue of 119.55604 billion CNY (218th);
- Dahan Group, with a revenue of 63.85064 billion CNY (380th);
- Hunan Bochang Holding Group, with a revenue of 58.21991 billion CNY (415th); and,
- Hunan Expressway Group, with a revenue of 50.8728 billion CNY (479th).
The 500 largest companies generated combined revenues of 110.07 trillion CNY in 2023, up 1.58 percent year on year. The data also showed that the average research and development (R&D) intensity of top 500 Chinese enterprises has increased continuously. Their total R&D spending accounted for 1.9 percent of the combined revenue, the highest level since 2002.
