Changsha Culture Shines at China Festival 2024 Held in Tokyo

The China Festival 2024 was held in Yoyogi Park in downtown Tokyo on September 7 and 8. The two-day event was co-sponsored by the Chinese Embassy in Japan and the Executive Committee of China Festival 2024. Changsha was invited to participate in the event as a representative city of Hunan Province.?
An exhibition booth was specially set up for Changsha, featuring intangible cultural heritage displays, food tasting, and interactive experiences. This setup fully showcased the unique charm of Changsha's culture.?

Chinese Ambassador to Japan Wu Jianghao visited the Changsha exhibition booth and learned about the exhibits displayed.?

A delegation headed by director of the Kagoshima International Exchange Office visited the Changsha exhibition booth.?

A series of intangible cultural heritage items with Changsha characteristics were displayed on site, including Liuyang xiabu cloth, Changsha paper-cutting, Changsha nut-carving, chrysanthemum stone carving, Changsha dough modelling, Changsha Tongguan Kiln ceramic firing techniques, traditional Chinese incense making skills, Hunan embroidery, and dyeing skills. These products were highly favored by Japanese residents. Additionally, Japanese enterprises expressed their intent to cooperate with Changsha in the development of intangible cultural heritage products including Hunan embroidery and dough modelling.

The interactive experience area was crowded with visitors. Peng Fengling, a representative inheritor of Changsha dough molding led Japanese visitors to feel the charm of the intangible cultural heritage item. Many Japanese visitors tried their hands at the traditional handicrafts and took photos. Lifelike dough modellings such as pandas and maneki-neko served as a bridge for cultural exchanges and a witness of friendship.

Popular Changsha specialty brands such as Chayan Yuese, Mo Mo Dim Sum, and Ma Fu Sheng prepared their products for visitors, receiving wide recognition.

The Changsha exhibition booth gained great popularity during the event, with visitors queuing in line. Many Japanese residents also expressed their interest and concern about Changsha. The event not only served as a window for Japanese people to learn about Changsha, but also an important bridge for the peoples of Changsha and Tokyo to deepen friendship and promote cultural exchanges.

The China Festival is a brand event created by the Chinese Embassy in Japan in partnership with Sino-Japanese friendship groups and overseas Chinese in Japan. It is an important platform to promote cultural exchanges and cooperation between China and Japan.
