2024 Mid-Autumn Festival Celebrations in Changsha

The upcoming Mid-Autumn Festival holiday, which takes place from September 15 to 17 this year, offers a wonderful opportunity to enjoy a variety of cultural activities. In Changsha, numerous scenic areas will host themed events to celebrate the festival. Activities such as admiring the full moon, visiting lantern fairs, traveling through ancient towns, and experiencing intangible cultural heritage items are highlights you won't want to miss.

Additionally, many scenic spots will provide free admission to teachers during the holiday.

Xiangjiang Joy Ocean Park

The Xiangjiang Joy Ocean Park has launched an event themed "The Bright Moon Rises over the Sea" for the 2024 Mid-Autumn Festival holiday. A vibrant tapestry of activities will be held, including a dreamlike flash mob performance themed "The Goddess Chang'e Flies to the Moon", a fireworks show, and floating river lanterns while making wishes. In addition, the park will remain open for night tours during the three-day holiday, and a special parade event will be made available to tourists again to create a festive and lively atmosphere.

From September 10 to 17, teachers enjoy free admission and the accompanying family members receive an all-day half-price ticket. Early bird ticket price for the 2024 Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day starts at 88 yuan/person.

Jinggang Ancient Town

On the occasion of the arrival of the Mid-Autumn Festival, Jinggang Ancient Town will hold a themed promotion for the festival. The town will combine the traditional customs of "picking up melons and fruits to celebrate a bumper harvest" and "touching melons to pray for a child" with its art installations, so tourists can immerse themselves in the traditional festival. Meanwhile, a Mid-Autumn Festival-themed temple fair will be hosted to intensify a warm festive atmosphere. The temple fair features a series of activities including a statue of General Yang Si parading along the streets, a food bazaar, and releasing river lanterns to pray for blessings. Besides, a mooncake challenge will be organized at the town. Tourists can join the challenge for free and taste traditional Changsha mooncakes.

Changsha Window on the World

To foster a traditional Chinese festive atmosphere, Changsha Window on the World is set to held a Mid-Autumn Festival-themed event from September 12 to 14. During the event, visitors to the amusement park can enjoy a free long-table banquet, eat mooncakes, taste tea, and drink osmanthus wine. Those wearing Hanfu can also get free hand lanterns and other exquisite gifts.

Tongguan Kiln Ancient Town China-chic Paradise

During the Mid-Autumn Festival holiday, Tongguan Kiln Ancient Town China-chic Paradise will launch its first edition of a special garden party. Tourists can stroll along a long street decorated with colorful lanterns, join a parade of performers holding fish-shaped lanterns to pray for blessings, and watch the traditional folk performance 'datiehua', or the molten iron fireworks show, as well as fireworks and drone shows. They can also visit a robot hall and a lively intangible cultural heritage fair, and admire folk handicraft skills.

Changsha Fantawild Oriental Heritage Theme Park

From September 15 to 17, Changsha Fantawild Oriental Heritage Theme Park will host a Mid-Autumn Festival-themed event, presenting tourists with festive activities including a parade featuring auspicious beasts, a fireworks show, and a garden party. A series of cultural performances including "Qu Yuan", "Meng Jiangnv", and "Book of Changes" will lead tourists to travel through the history and discover the stories behind. In addition, various immersive games are available for tourists to embark on a mysterious journey.
