On September 19, the S238 Dongqu Highway was opened to traffic in Anhua County. The road starts from Dongping Town of Anhua County and extends to Shenwan Village of Zhexi Forestry Farm. With a total length of 50.8 kilometers, it is a major road project of Hunan's 13th Five-Year Plan for Transportation Development. Upon operation, the Dongqu Highway reduces travel time from Dongping to Nanjin, Gulou, Yanxi, Qujiang, Pingkou, and other towns and townships in the reservoir area from nearly 3 hours ( by car or by boat) to just 1 hour. It further alleviates the traffic pressure of the reservoir area and optimizes the overall road network operating capacity of Anhua County, benefitting production, daily lives, and travel of nearly 300,000 population around the reservoir area.
