Secretary Shen Meets with French Ambassador to China Bertrand Lortholary

Shen Xiaoming, secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee, met in Changsha with Bertrand Lortholary, French ambassador to China, and his entourage on September 25, 2024.

Secretary Shen, on behalf of the provincial Party committee and the provincial government, welcomed the guests and briefed them on the situation of Hunan Province. He noted that this year marks the 60th anniversary of China-France diplomatic relations. Chinese President Xi Jinping reached important common understandings with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron during a visit to France this May. This has injected a strong impetus into the opening of a new journey of China-France relations.Hunan has been following the direction led by the CPC Central Committee and President Xi Jinping, taking the "Three Hubs" construction as the navigation to solidly promote high-quality development. The province is willing to work with France to implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state. Both sides are expected to deepen cooperation in areas such as economy and trade, science, education and culture, and people-to-people exchanges, so as to contribute to the consolidation and development of the traditional friendship between China and France.

Ambassador Bertrand Lortholary expressed his happiness at visiting Hunan, where he could experience the province's profound historical and cultural heritage, and the vitality of Changsha, one of China's happiest cities. He expected the two sides to further strengthen communication and collaboration in such fields as economy, culture, education, medical care, and media. He welcomed Hunan enterprises to invest in France to achieve greater outcomes in cooperation.

Provincial leaders Zhang Yingchun and Qin Guowen, and Jean-Yves Roux, consul general of France in Wuhan, attended.
