A promotional conference on Hunan Province at Expo 2025 Osaka was held in Changsha on October 28.
The Hunan Week of China Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka will take place next year between August 6 and 8, according to the conference. The aim is to explore new cooperation opportunities and jointly promote Hunan’s high-level opening up.
"We are making every effort to prepare for 'Hunan Week', and we will take the World Expo 2025 as an opportunity to tell Hunan’s stories and convey Hunan’s voice to the world," said Yang Aiyun, president of the Hunan Sub-council of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade. She noted that Hunan Week will feature a number of supporting activities such as the opening ceremony, exhibitions, promotion conferences on economic and trade cooperation and exchanges, promotion conferences on cultural tourism resources, and special promotion conferences by cities (prefecture), with participation by various Hunan enterprises at the Expo. "I hope that these diversified and multi-level exchanges and interactions will help Hunan's products and culture go global, and that a Hunan culture boom will emerge at the Expo."
At the promotional conference, Matsuda Hirokazu, deputy director of the global public relations and promotions division of the Japan Association for the 2025 World Exposition, gave a briefing on the design of the Osaka World Expo venues, transportation information, preparation progress, admission tickets sales, and concurrent merchandise exhibitions. Additionally, the launch ceremony for the 2025 Osaka Expo ticket sales and the signing of agency authorization agreements for ticket and exhibition access were held on site.
Since participating in Expo 2005 Aichi, Hunan has established deep relationships with the world event, and has made appearances at the Expo 2010 Shanghai, Expo 2015 Milan, International Horticultural Exhibition 2019 Beijing, and Expo 2020 Dubai. Themed "Designing Future Society of Our Lives," the Osaka World Expo is scheduled to be held from April 13 to Oct. 13, 2025, on the artificial island of Yumeshima in Osaka Bay. The China Pavilion will be one of the largest foreign-built pavilions at the Expo, covering an area of approximately 3,500 square meters. The exterior design of the pavilion is inspired by bamboo slips and shaped like an unfolded Chinese traditional calligraphy scroll. The pavilion serves as a showcase for the essence of Chinese culture from the three aspects of bamboo, Chinese characters, and scrolls.
