年輕人不接電話了?“鈴聲響起,每一個毛孔都在喊救命”

你知道電話恐懼癥(Phone Phobia)嗎?這指的是對撥打或接聽電話產(chǎn)生恐懼和回避行為,也被看做是社交恐懼癥或社交焦慮的一類。

Phone phobia, or telephone phobia, is reluctance or fear of making or taking phone calls, literally, "fear of telephones". It is considered to be a type of social phobia or social anxiety.

很多年輕人會將手機調(diào)成靜音(mute),避免聽到電話鈴聲ringtone。人們更傾向于使用文字交流如微信、短信或郵件,即使知道電話溝通更高效。

有些人就算接了電話但也不說話,直到對方“自報家門”后再掛掉電話。有人表示接通電話后不知道該說什么,會急于結(jié)束通話。

有人擔心陌生來電是詐騙(scams)或騷擾(nuisance call),甚至會忽略所有陌生號碼(unknown number)。更有甚者聽到電話鈴聲會感到煩躁、恐慌,甚至出現(xiàn)呼吸急促等生理反應(yīng)。

These symptoms may include nervous stomach, sweaty palms, rapid heartbeat, shortness of breath, nausea, dry mouth and trembling. The sufferer may experience feelings of panic, terror and dread.

那么,電話恐懼癥,到底是在恐懼什么?

對于老一輩來說,電話是日常溝通的重要方式,但對年輕人而言,電話并非首選。

如今,基于文本的溝通(如短信、微信、郵件)更為普遍,且許多事務(wù)(如掛號、購物、點外賣)都能在網(wǎng)上完成,無需電話聯(lián)系。

與打電話相比,發(fā)信息更能讓年輕人掌控溝通節(jié)奏,他們可以思考后編輯文字,甚至搭配圖片或表情包(emoji)。

而電話的實時對話、隨機應(yīng)變以及可能出現(xiàn)的沉默或?qū)擂蝿t會帶來壓力。

有人說“如果把微信比作是錄播(pre-recorded)的話,電話就是直播(live),要立即給出反饋”,這會讓人失去思考的空間。

在開放式辦公室,打電話還會讓人感覺被同事評判。

如今,電話多用于重要事務(wù),導(dǎo)致年輕人接到電話時會本能地認為是緊急情況。

尤其是陌生來電,更容易引發(fā)焦慮。

此外,電話會打斷正在進行的事情,被視為一種“突襲”。

同時,如果自己是要打電話的一方,也可能會產(chǎn)生害怕打擾到對方,使對方厭惡自己的恐懼。

You might have phone phobia if you:

Avoid making calls or having others call you.

Delay making or answering phone calls.

Obsess about what was said after calls.

Stress about embarrassing yourself.

Worry about bothering the other person.

Worry about what you will say.

可見,人們害怕的并非電話本身,而是電話鈴聲響起時那種不可預(yù)測性帶來的心理壓力。

那么,想要克服電話恐懼癥,我們可以怎么做?

1. 了解自己害怕接電話的原因,如擔心說錯話、被拒絕等,有助于找到解決問題的關(guān)鍵點。

Identify where your fears stem from and how you can change those thinking patterns to be more realistic and effective. 

2. 在打電話前制定詳細計劃,如列出要討論的話題、準備好開場白等,以增強自信心。

Know generally what you are going to say. If there are important points that you need to bring up, make sure to write those down and keep them handy for easy referencing

3. 在通話前進行深呼吸、冥想等放松技巧,減輕緊張情緒。

Remember to breathe and pace yourself as you perform a call. Calm down before calls by taking a few deep, 4-count breaths and pace yourself with no more than 10 calls in a row.

4. 從較熟悉的人開始,逐漸增加打電話的次數(shù)和難度。

If you find strangers more difficult to talk to, start calling people you are more familiar with. Then further extend both the length of conversations and the range of people with whom conversations are held.

5. 如果電話恐懼癥嚴重影響生活,可以咨詢心理醫(yī)生,必要時可進行心理治療或藥物治療。

If necessary, you can consult a therapist. Phobias of this sort can usually be treated by different types of therapies, including: cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), psychotherapy, behavior therapy and exposure therapy.

“電話恐懼癥”并非病態(tài),如果不喜歡接打電話并未對你的生活造成實質(zhì)性影響,那么無需過于在意。

不過,即便害怕電話溝通,也別忘了保持基本的溝通能力哦~
